DIY: NUMBERED NAPKINS

I have such a fun project to share with you today! The gracious folks at Deco Art were kind enough to send me some of their Ink Effects Product and I couldn't wait to use it on a project. In my effort to become more eco friendly, my husband and I have started to use fabric napkins instead of paper ones. I've been gifted some fun patterned ones, but as the seasons change, I wanted to make some that we could use at some upcoming dinner parties while still going along with the decor. The napkins that I've created using Ink Effects will fit into most any decor and I can't wait to show you how they turned out!

Materials
- fabric napkins
-Ink Effects spray for cotton fabrics
-Ink Effects paint (black shown here)
-paintbrushes (1/4" flat and a small detail brush)
-reverse print of desired design

Step 1: Dip the paintbrush into the Ink and paint over the design, using the detail brush to get in tight areas. The first coat might look a little transparent, so I allowed mine to dry and did a second coat.

Step 2: While the paint is drying, if using a cotton fabric, be sure to spray it with the Ink Effects for cotton fabric spray. Follow the directions on the bottle and allow to dry. Once the ink is dry, cut each number from the page. You don't have to cut each shape out precisely as only the ink will transfer.

Step 3: Set the number ink side down onto your fabric in exactly the place you want the ink to transfer.

Step 4: Setting an iron to the cotton setting, with no steam, iron over the paper for about 30 seconds, moving the iron constantly. Lift the iron off and peel the paper back to reveal your design.

Step 5: Repeat the process of ironing and peeling back the paper on each of your pieces and that's it! I told you it was easy!

Step 6: Invite some friends over and enjoy a meal together!

  5. looks really nice! but I was wondering... do the numbers mean anything? do they have a certain purpose once you invite some people over? I'd be fun if they did!

    1. hi anna. i didn't intend for the numbers to have any significant meaning, but it could be fun to have some sort of game during cocktails that corresponds with the number at your place setting! or if people pick a number out of a hat or something and that's where they sit? could make for a fun dinner party!
